Man running ‘mobile pharmacy’ from car arrested in Wigan

Police in Wigan have arrested a man who was dispensing suspected stolen or fake prescription-only medicines from a car and operating what they described as a “mobile pharmacy.”

The man, who has not been named, was caught supplying controlled drugs from the vehicle on Orchard Street in Scholes, Greater Manchester.

In a post on Facebook, Wigan and Leigh Police said a woman was also arrested on the same day on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs after more drugs and “quantities” of cash were found following the search of a house in Atherton.

Wigan and Leigh Police said the seized medicines will be forensically tested “to determine if they do actually contain the right ingredients” because “much of this type of trade involves fake product which can and has resulted in sudden death of users.”

Wigan and Leigh Police said the arrests were made after “some great partnership working between Wigan Central Watch and the Town centre neighbourhood team.”

Independent Community Pharmacist has contacted the force for an update.
